When Michelle and I began talking about hers and Zach’s engagement photos, she mentioned a location that had redwoods or rolling hills. Living in the East Bay, we have access to some incredible photo locations, so combining both redwoods and rolling hills was possible! An engagement session at Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland, California seemed perfect, not only because it had the scenery we wanted, but coincidentally, it is also Zach’s favorite place to mountain bike.
When shooting in and near the redwoods, you risk not having a ton of natural light (or completely missing the magical golden hour). While I’m a huge fan of moody photos, I also love shooting when there is available sunset light. Lucky for us, we had our DREAM light shining through the trees, which gave us the perfect backdrop for the photos below!
