“You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time.”
Lindsay and Jay danced to “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton after spending a day at summer camp with their closet friends and family. Lindsay sang the lyrics to Jay, as they swayed across the dance floor, soaking up the newly married bliss!
When Lindsay told me about her wedding, I knew I had to be a part of it. Her and Jay were getting marred in Kent, Connecticut at Club Getaway, a summer camp for adults. Club Getaway is every bit as magical as you can expect… there were water sports, lawn games, obstacle courses, yoga classes, hiking… but the best part is, there was also a place to get a beer at any moment in time.
We stayed in cabins in the woods, and ate in a dining hall, just like I remember when I used to go to summer camp way back when. I also remembered (too late) why you shouldn’t bring food into your cabin. Let’s just say, the chipmunks liked me!
After playing all day (and cleaning up rather well), the group gathered by the lake to watch Lindsay and Jay say “I do.” It was a chilly evening but one of the most gorgeous wedding ceremonies and sunset I have ever seen!
There were so many details and moments I loved during this weekend. The gorgeous flowers, Lindsay’s dress, Jay’s three piece suite, sleeping in a cabin, the yoga… the list goes on and on and on. But what I especially loved was how much fun everyone had together. Many of the guests had never met before the weekend, but bringing them all to Club Getaway brought everyone together in close. Those who had just met left as friends (I have pictures to prove it!), and now we all have one thing in common – Lindsay and Jay’s amazing camp getaway!
